You may not know this but, my very first blog concerned a shoot, on a cold, wet and windy Blackpool beach, that I did with The Grand, a super talented three piece band from Wakefield who, nearly two years later, are on the cusp of releasing their debut album ‘Incapacitated, ill-fated and in love’. Having been given a sneak preview of all ten tracks I can vouch for its sophistication, depth and skillful adherence to the craft of songwriting. That is to say, its fucking brilliant.
So, Sunday just gone, we embarked on our second official photo shoot, swapped west coast for east coast and headed to a secret location only known to thousands of annual tourists – a centuries old coastal village, by a small bay named after a famous outlaw, named Robin Hood.
Our reason for shooting at the aforementioned secret location was its monolithic sea wall, rising 40ft above the beach, which I spotted whilst on a family holiday last year and thought even then what a great back drop it would make. Upon my return from said family holiday I immediately and excitedly contacted Russ Smith, bassist and lead vocalist with The Grand, and told him we must arrange a photo shoot as soon as humanly possible! It turned out that as soon as humanly possible in this case was approximately 15 months. Still, all good things…
Thanks for looking!
